Spellcaster’s Serum

Serums

Serums are vials of magic liquid that you can imbibe as a standard action or carefully trickle down the throat of a helpless or unconscious creature as a full action. Serums are normally 1 ounce of liquid (though it is possible to make serums with larger volumes, these are no more effective than standard serums), and lose potency if they are mixed with any other material. A serum can be used only once. Regardless of a serum’s actual item level, all serum vials have their hardness and Hit Points calculated as if they were 1st-level items.

Spellcaster’s Serum, Bolstering

Description

A bolstering spellcaster’s serum is yellow. The first time you cast a spell while this serum is in effect, you can increase its DC. If the spell uses a spell slot lower than the highest level of spell you can cast, increase the DC of the spell by 1, to a maximum of the same DC as the highest level of spells you can cast. If the spell is the highest level of spell you can cast, the spell is unaffected by the effects of this serum.

Spellcaster’s Serum, Adaptable

Description

An adaptable spellcaster’s serum continuously changes colors. The first time you cast a spell while this serum is in effect, you can change that spell’s damage type. If the spell targets EAC or deals energy damage, you can change the spell’s damage type to one of the following of your choice: acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. If the spell targets KAC or deals physical damage, you can change the spell’s damage type to one of the following of your choice: bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing. If the spell doesn’t deal damage, the spell is unaffected by the effects of this serum.

Spellcaster’s Serum, Extending

Description

An extending spellcasting serum is green. The first time you cast a spell while this serum is in effect, you extend its duration. If the spell has a duration that is increases by level and is measured in rounds, minutes, or hours, you add 1 to this duration. For example, a spell with a duration of 1 round/level would be increased by 1 additional round, while a spell with a duration of 1 hour/level would be increased by 1 additional hour.

Spellcaster’s Serum, Reaching

Description

A reaching spellcaster’s serum is red. The first time you cast a spell while this serum is in effect, you extend its range. If the spell has a range of close, the spell’s range is increased by 5 additional feet. If the spell has a range of medium, the range is increased by 10 additional feet. If the spell has a range of long, the range is increased by 40 additional feet. If the spell does not have one of these ranges, the spell is unaffected by the effects of this serum. If the spell affects an area, this increase to its range doesn’t alter the size of its area.

Spellcaster’s Serum, Stretching

Description

A stretching spellcaster’sserum is blue. The first time you cast a spell while this serum is in effect, you expand its area. If the spell is a burst, emanation, or spread, you increase the spell’s radius by 5 feet. If the spell is a cone or line, you increase the spell’s range by 5 feet. Spells that don’t have one of these areas are unaffected by this serum.
